Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) has emerged as a transformative pedagogical approach that emphasizes experiential, student-centered learning. By engaging learners in real-world projects, PBL not only facilitates knowledge acquisition but also fosters essential cognitive skills, particularly critical thinking. This review critically examines the relationship between PBL and the development of critical thinking skills across educational levels. A systematic analysis of empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and pedagogical models reveals that PBL promotes problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and reflective thinking by integrating collaboration, creativity, and self-directed learning. Challenges such as assessment complexities, teacher preparedness, and curriculum integration are also discussed. Finally, the review outlines practical recommendations for implementing PBL to maximize critical thinking outcomes and highlights avenues for future research in diverse educational contexts.
